Quebec Skilled Worker Program

Quebec Skilled Worker Program is initiated in collaboration with Government of Quebec and the Canadian Federal Government which enables highly skilled candidates to immigrate to Quebec. Applicants are evaluated on the basis of selection grid of factors, and candidates who scored enough are then given a Quebec Selection Certificate(QSC) which they can use to apply for permanent residency. Skilled Worker (Professional) applicants who intend to reside in Montreal or in another city or region within the province of Quebec are assessed under a different system than applicants who wish to settle elsewhere in Canada.

 

Quebec Skilled Worker Eligibility

There are total 26 points given under Training category of this program. These points are given under two sub-category: Education(maximum 14 points) and Areas of Training(maximum 12 points).

Education 

This sub-category has 2 points as minimum cut-off scores, that means applicant must have obtained at least a secondary school general diploma in order to be eligible. Education level must be obtained 5 years prior submitting their application. Otherwise, applicant must have worked in a field directly related to their degree or diploma for a minimum of 12 months in five years.

This category is for to identify potential immigrants who are professionally trained in areas with strong job prospects. Maximum points to be scored are 12 points.

Maximum points to be scored are 8 points. Eligible work experience must be gathered in 5 years prior submission of the application for the program. Job experience includes both paid or unpaid employment.

Language Proficiency 

Maximum points to be scored in this category is 22 points. Immigration Quebec gives preference to French language over English. Consequently, French language proficiency is weighted more with 16 points for French language in comparison to English language proficiency which is weighted at 6 points.

Candidates who have a valid job offer from the employers in Quebec can be awarded up to 10 points depending on the job location.

  • If the offered job is in Montreal area: 8 points
  • If the offered job is outside the Montreal area: 10 points

 

Financial self Sufficiency

Documentation required to apply for skilled worker Quebec Program

In addition to Quebec Skilled Worker application, the following documents are also needed in your application:

  • Financial self-sufficiency contract.
  • Power of attorney mandate (if using a legal representative)
  • Declaration for practicing a regulated trade or profession (if applicable)
  • Photocopy of valid passport (showing issue date and expiry date)
  • Photocopy of birth certificate
  • Photocopy of marriage certificate, judgment of divorce, and/or certificate of death of spouse (if applicable)
  • Photocopy of valid residence permit if residing in country in which you are not a citizen (if applicable)
  • Photocopy of proof of enrollment as a foreign student (if applicable)
  • Photocopy of letter from educational institution indicating start date for foreign student as well as expected end date (if applicable)
  • Photocopy of adoption papers for accompanying child (if applicable)
  • Original medical certificate indicating physical or mental incapacity of accompanying adult child (if applicable)
  • Original passport-sized photos of all family members immigrating to Quebec
  • Certified true copy of all degrees and diplomas, as well as all corresponding transcripts (if applicable)
