In the latest immigration draw, PEI PNP invites 195

Candidates for Express Entry, Labor Impact, and Business Impact have been invited to apply for a PEI provincial nomination.

On December 17, Prince Edward Island held its last scheduled draw of the year.

A total of 195 invitations were issued by the Prince Edward Island Provincial Candidate Program (PEI PNP). Most of the invitations, 174, went to candidates for Express Entry and Labour Effect. As long as they had a minimum point threshold of 85, Company Effect candidates took home the remaining 21.

Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) allow the provinces and territories of Canada to select candidates for immigration that meet the needs of their labor market. Often they comply with the federal Express Entry scheme of Canada.

Class for PEI Express Entry

The Express Entry Category of the PEI PNP is an improved PNP, meaning it operates within the Express Entry system of the Canadian government.

The applications are handled by Express Entry for three types of economic immigration: the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program and the Canadian Experience Class.

For their age, work experience, education, and language proficiency in English and French, qualifying candidates are given a Detailed Ranking System (CRS) score.

An additional 600 points against their CRS score are granted to Express Entry candidates who obtain a provincial nomination and are effectively guaranteed an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence in a subsequent Express Entry draw.

Express Entry candidates need to build an EOI profile with the PEI PNP in order to be considered for a provincial nomination from PEI.

Points are granted to EOI profiles based on the specific points grid of the province. The highest-scoring applicants are then invited via monthly draws to apply.

The PEI PNP did not include a breakdown of how many candidates were invited for Express Entry and Labour Effect, nor the minimum EOI score needed for each category.

Class for Labor Impact

For foreign nationals who have a legitimate work offer in PEI and have the support of their employer, the Labor Effect Category applies. It is split into three streams: Professional Worker, Vital Worker and Graduate International.

A minimum EOI score of 85 was required for the 21 candidates who were invited via the Business Impact Category on November 19. These invitations were given within the context of the Work Permit Stream for international entrepreneurs wishing to own and operate a PEI company.
