Saskatchewan’s PNP invites 533 applicants for immigration

As of 14 August, Saskatchewan had the highest PNP draw.

About 553 aspiring Canadian-immigrants have received invitations from Saskatchewan to register for a provincial nomination.

On August 14, the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) held its most recent round of invitation. Candidates from the Foreign Skilled Worker segment were invited by two subcategories: Express Entry, and In-Demand Occupations. The number of invitations has fallen short of being the biggest draw of the year, which on February 13 was 646 invitations. Nevertheless, it’s the highest draw since February 27, which released 576 invitations, and therefore the biggest draw since March’s corona virus shutdown.

Candidates from both subcategories had to apply Expression of Interest (EOI) profiles with the SINP in order to be included in this draw.

The SINP uses the EOI system to pick the candidates in the prairie region with the most potential to succeed. Candidates need to demonstrate their dedication to building a life in Saskatchewan by demonstrating their work experience, schooling, language skills, age and provincial ties.

The SINP uses these five criteria to assess applicants and on the International Skilled Worker Points Evaluation Grid assign them a ranking out of 100. The highest-scoring candidates then receive an invitation to qualify for a Saskatchewan provincial nomination.

The minimum score required for both sub-categories in the August 14 draws was 69.

Sub category – Express Entry

Saskatchewan released 286 invitations in the current round of invitations to candidates who had profiles in the federal Express Entry list.

The Federal Express Entry System handles the selection of applicants for three of Canada’s largest economic-class immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program and the Canadian Experience Group.

If candidates also filled out an EOI for Saskatchewan in the federal Express Entry pool and scored 69 on the SINP’s Points Assessment Grid they may have been invited to the latest draw.

Express Entry candidates applying for and receiving a provincial nomination from Saskatchewan Province will be awarded an additional 600 points to their CRS     score. This award effectively guarantees that a subsequent federal Express Entry draw will invite them to apply for permanent residency.

Sub category – Occupation in Demand

The subcategory Occupations In-Demand is available to foreign applicants who do not have a federal Express Entry profile.

Invited to apply for a provincial nomination were 247 Occupations In-Demand candidates and, like the Express Entry subcategory, candidates required a provincial score of 69 to be chosen.
